Independent party people er samsköpunarverk eftir sviðslistahópsins Sálufélaga. Sálufélagar buðu í partý til heiðurs ímynd Íslendinga, þar sem allir eru meðvitaðir um forréttindi sín, inngildingu er hampað og fjölbreytileikanum fagnað. Verkið var sýnt í Tjarnarbíó árið 2019.

Ég hannaði búningana með þrjú element í huga sem tengdust íslenskri ímynd: Lopapeysur, útivistarföt og endurnýtt, litríkt heybaggaplast. Lopapeysan er táknmynd Íslendinga, útivistafatnaður-
iunn táknar túrisma á Íslandi og heybaggaplastið íslensku sveitarinnar. Þessi element voru tekin í sundur og sett saman á nýjan. Lopapeysurnar voru þæfðar í útivistarfatnaðinn og heybaggaplastið notað sem kögur. Útkoman varð hinn séríslenski partýbúningur.

Independent party people is a divisive theatre performance by Soulmates. Soulmates invited guests to a party to honour the Icelandic image, where everybody were concious about their privilage, inclusion was promoted and diversity was celebrated. The theatre piece was premiered in Tjarnarbjó in 2019.

I designed the costumes with three elements in mind that were inspired by Icelandic imagery: Lopi sweaters, outdoor fashion and reused colorful hey wrapping. The lopi sweater is an symbol for Iceland, the outdoor fashion is a symbol of the tourism in Iceland and the hey wrapping is a symbol the Iceland countryside. These elements were deconstructed and then reconstructed again. The lopi sweaters were felted into the outdoor clothes and the hey wrapping was made into a fringe. The outcome was the original Icelandic partydress.
